Looking Ahead to Another Exciting Week

We will be revisiting the sounds of long /u/ this week.  Some of these are exciting or describing words like: huge, cute, blue.  Some are nouns like: Tuesday, glue, mule, and cubes.  Check out Spelling City to practice some words that are like the ones that will be on the spelling test on Friday.

In math, we have begun to add BIG numbers like 24 plus 73.  Remember to always add the ones (babies) first!!!  We are also adding big money, such as, 35 cents plus 25 cents.  Just add the pennies (least value) first then the dimes!  So easy!!!

We will continue to read about animals this week learning the difference between mammals and reptiles.

I am so excited about the student's writing!  Wow!  Some are their stories are so fun to read!  They are learning to use fancy and exciting words to expand their sentences.  This nine weeks, their assessment writing will be persuasive.  They must write a letter persuading their parents to let them have a pet.  We are learning the parts of a letter, as well.

Just a reminder, I will be attending a Professional Learning Seminar next week, and will be out of the classroom on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  But I'll be back in time to PARTY on Friday.  Be remind your child to be on their best behavior for the sub!

We will also be doing some Valentine and President's Day activities!  Don't forget President's Day on Monday, February 15th is a school holiday.

One final note:  Thank you, Mrs. Linda (Rivers grandmother) for joining our followers!!
