Welcome to First Grade
We're excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and we're looking forward to a happy and productive school year.

Curriculum areas we will focus on this year include Reading, Writing, Phonics, Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science.

First Grade is a busy year in which many new skills are introduced. These are the building blocks to your child's future education. Stay connected to what your child is learning and encourage your child to do his or her best each and every day!

Students are asked to bring the following supplies to school

1 box of 16 crayons

1- 70 page spiral notebooks (wide-ruled)

1 box of tissue

1 box of wet wipes

Your child will have homework each week in first grade.

Begin to talk with your child about appropriate behavior at school, and begin to establish routines to help your child have the best year possible! Help your child learn to be a good listener!

As you are made aware of dates for special classroom and school activities, please mark those dates on your calendar. Studies show that parental involvement in a child's education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. We hope you will make it a priority this year to attend as many school-sponsored events as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to visit our classroom, schedule a conference, or volunteer to help out, you can contact your child's teacher.

First graders are full of life and boundless energy! They are eager to learn and excited about school and even homework. The first grade year is full of many firsts such as: First desk

First "real" homework
First spelling test
First time to "really" read
First math test
First time to feel "grown up"

This will be a year of tremendous growth both academically as well as socially and emotionally. Once again, welcome to First Grade. We are looking forward to meeting you and kicking off a fabulous year in first grade! Let's work together to make this the best year ever!
